There are a number of reasons for hiring a roof box - primarily because you need space !

We provide quality roof boxes built by THULE - thoroughly tested to withstand the rigours of modern motoring in all climates -and can accommodate all shapes and sizes of vehicles.

Fitting is by appointment and will be in the evening Monday through Friday from 6.30pm onwards and on Saturday / Sunday morning at weekends, from 10.00 am. We regard your hire dates as your first day of travel and last day of travel. Fitting takes place the evening before your first hire date and returns are the day following your last hire date.

Roof Tent hire
We now hire Roof Tents, offering the new and exciting way to go camping, turning your day to day car, into a mini campervan, without the expensive outlay. In addition, we have various accessories to enhance your camping experience. Let us deal with storage, fitting and the expense, you enjoy a fantastic holiday.
Cycle rack hire
We have two types of cycle racks available for hire. We use THULE 998 Roof cycle rack which is suitable for small children’s cycles through to adult cycles. We also have Towbar racks available if required.

Hired a Tentbox Lite 2.0 from Duncan and Kev at Lothian Roofbox Hire and a wonderful camping long weekend (aided by the best weather in Scotland for quite some time!) but have to say the service is top notch and a great way to check out whether a Tentbox is for you. We loved it but don’t think we have space to store the Tentbox when off the car so will be back for further adventures and will add dog ladder and living pod, so watch out for future updates to this review. Had three put ups/take downs over the weekend and got it down to 10 minutes up and 8 minutes down as absolute newbies. Super comfortable to sleep in and warm (with strategic draft excluding measures!), heartily recommend testing with a Tentbox is for you by hiring from these cracking guys!

Only rented a box as had the bars but the kit is great. By using Thule you really get a great rental. Reasonably priced and a god send for a family trip to Europe. If you don’t have rails get in touch the guys seem to know every make/model of car and probably have a solution. Fitting was easy at their site and convenient they don’t charge u for the extra day when u fit the night before and have the extra day after for removal. Took 5mins each time. Would recommend highly in a heart beat. Keep up the great job LothianRoofBoxHire 😃

Service from booking to fitting and the return was excellent, a big thanks to the guys, first class service. We hired the TentBox Lite XL with living pod and thermal lining. Easy set up with great views from the top and side windows. Rained for 24 hours and everything inside was nice and dry. Definitely recommended and looking forward to our next hire.
